SPIMUN 2023
Commonly to our mission last year, SPIMUN desires to provide the best MUN experience for our delegates. We are also happy to inform that this SPIMUN edition will not have mandatory COVID-19 restrictions, as the situation stands currently, however this might be subject to future change. Therefore, like last year, the Secretariat is preparing a two-day long face-to-face conference, from Friday, March 24th to Saturday, March 25th, 2023.
However, SPIMUN is always prepared to reinstitute COVID-19 contention measures, if required by the Portuguese health authorities. Delegates are, of course, always welcome to protect themselves with whatever measures they prefer, and SPIMUN will provide surgical face masks, as well as hand sanitiser.
This year’s SPIMUN edition will entertain a General Assembly for its Junior Committee, and a Human Rights Council for its Senior Committee. With the issues selected, participants will debate about ensuring the protection and safety of each and every one of us, as well as the improving of the world we live in.
Junior Committee
This committee will welcome delegates from Grades 7 and 8. Due to its ideal size, the Junior HR Council is a very pleasant experience for new delegates to flourish, by allowing them to take the floor multiple times to promote and raise their voices about the most prominent issues in today's world.
BACKGROUND REPORT
Press Corps Committee
Press corps’ delegates are responsible for representing a group of journalists that are usually present at the United Nations and other important bodies. Rather than representing a country, Press Corps’ delegates will represent a given press company or group, with its associated perspectives and views. Delegates will be required to interview participating delegates as well as writing articles about the debate, playing the role of journalists.
